Mission life

Published by josh under Missions

Many people ask me what’s it like to be a missionary. I am well aware that we have it 10 times easier than Hudson Taylor and those who first went to China but it is still difficult.  We may not travel on a boat for 4 months but I tell you it is still difficult on the body.  I would like to give you my itinerary from the past 3 days just to let you have a glimpse of what it is like to do what we do.

Thursday May 21st

9am leave for the airport

10:50 flight leaves from Beaumont to Houston

1:30 flight leaves from Houston to Newark

8:50pm flight leaves for Newark to Delhi, India (17 hours)

Friday May 22nd

9:00pm Arrive in Delhi

10:30 reach hotel

Midnight go to sleep

Saturday May 23rd

4 am leave hotel for Airport

5:50 flight to Raipur

8am arrive in Raipur and leave for village

4pm arrive in village (8 hours in jeep through the jungle)

7pm start SOC graduation

10pm Reach hotel

11:30 Go to bed

Needless to say I am very tired. I thank God He has given us this great opportunity to be His voice to a people that have never heard His name. I would make this trip 100 times in a row if it meant God would continue to open these doors.  We are working in areas where the church is underground and it hard to find them but God is directing to each place that we need to go. Thank you for your prayers and support that continue to make this happen. God Bless.

In Christ,

Josh Hamby

Headed to India

Published by josh under Missions

Dear Friends,

I am leaving for India and will begone for 9 days.  The Lord has led me to a a remote village in Chattisggargh, North India. A place where the gospel has never been.  I believe the Lord is going to be with us and we are going to see a move of God. Please keep us in prayer and I will let you know what great things God has done as soon as I get home. God Bless.

In Fort Worth, TX

Published by josh under Uncategorized

Dear Beloved,

We have had a great two weeks. I was in London, KY for a missions meeting with Pastor Clendennen and then we were in Whitney, TX with Pastor McGehee.  In both meetings we saw a great outpouring of God’s Spirit. It just says to me that God is not through with us. I heard a few messages in tongues with the interpretation and every time it was God calling us back to Himself. We do serve a jealous God; He wants us to live our lives totally to Him with no reserve.

One of the greatest things I heard was from Sister Donna Shoots. She was preaching on vision and began to talk about her father and what it was like when he lost his vision. She said, “he had to rely on the vision of other people and hope that their vision was correct.” How true this is in the Spiritual. If we lose our Spiritual vision then we have to rely on the Pastors vision or someone else’s vision. The problem is that their vision may not be the same as the vision God has for my life. God is calling me to mission work in India but that doesn’t mean everybody is called to India, even though that would be nice. We must have our Spiritual eyes open and our ears cleaned out so that we know what God is saying to us.

I will be headed to India next week. Please keep me in prayer as I have some decisions to make about Nepal. They are really going through it with the new Communist government. May it work for good in the end. God Bless.

In Christ,

Josh

God is moving

Published by josh under Uncategorized

Dear Friends and family,

We are living in the last days as the Apostle Peter preached about on the day of Pentecost. I don’t know this because America has a new President or is in a recession, but I know it by the word of God. We read Luke 21:25 “upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity;” verse 26 “Men’s heart failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth:” I can tell you we are there, but not all of the prophesy concerning the last days are bad. Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh: and your son’s and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall see dreams: 18 And on my servants and handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19 And I will show wonders in Heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath;” Also Haggai 2:9 “The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the Lord.”

There are promises from the Lord of a last day falling away and destruction but also of great power being poured out by God through the Holy Spirit. I know we are in the last days because we are seeing both. While the world is falling apart, God and His army of Soldiers are marching on: on to a new day, on to a move of God, on to revival. So that the testimony of the body of Christ would be the same as when Christ walked this earth in the flesh; Mathew 11:4 “Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John AGAIN those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the death hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.” This is the testimony of the Church of the last days. Christ living through His body, which is you and I, the bride of Christ.

All over the world we are seeing this last day out pouring. From the bush of Arica to the base of Mt. Everest, God is moving, and what is happening there is not because they are special or God loves them more, it is because they have been willing to pay the price that God has required. What is the price you may ask? It is a broken spirit and a contrite heart, that God will not despise (Ps. 51:17), the price is fasting and prayer (Mt. 17:21), the price is denying ourselves, taking up the Cross, and following Christ (Mt. 24), the price is to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and with all our strength, and also to love your neighbor as yourself. (Mark 12:30-31) If we do these things God has promised us He would show up and show out. He will be God in our meetings, revival will come, He will pour His Spirit our on all flesh, that young person that has been flirting with the world will get on fire for God and began to preach with power, those that were growing cold will now long for the prayer meeting. All these things will happen if we will just do our part. We must not complain of what God did in the book of Acts or even complain what He is doing in other parts of the world, because He desires to do that very thing in our Churches this weekend and He will do it if we will let Him. God is moving and the question is; are we going to be a part of it? I have stood on train platforms in India many times and watched people sleeping, playing around, not paying attention, and the train take off and leave them behind. The plans and desires of God are moving, they are in effect right now. I urge you, be a part of. Lay aside the things that are hindering the move of God in your life. Get on the train.

In Christ,

Josh Hamby

A New Year

Published by josh under Uncategorized

Dear Friends,

We have entered into 2009 and as I preached last weekend, “God is on the Move.” From the politics of this country, all that is happening in Isreal, to the great things God is doing on the Mission field we have seen a speeding up of the times.  Never has there been a day like this and surely we can say like Ester, We HAVE come to the kingdom for such a time as this.”

I will do my best to keep you posted on all the Lord is doing in and through our lives. Last week I was able to travel with Brother Clendennen to Angola prision. The largest prision in America. It was amasing to hear the testemonies of the most hardened criminals lives being changed by Jesus Christ.  Men that have no chance of getting out of prision are now missionaries in Angola. One young man had a shirt on that read, “Angola, Ain’t no place you want to be.” I sure wouldn’t like to live there but it was great to go and minister this great gospel.

The end of Febuary finds me in Amisar, India running the SOC. I will be there for most of march and it is looking like a great school, nearly 70 Pastors have already sighned up for the class. Please keep that school in your prayers as it maybe the first bible school that has ever ran in the Sihk capital, but I know we offer them the message of life. God Bless.

End of 2008

Published by josh under Josh, Missions

Dear Friends,

We come to the end of a great great year in the ministry, we were able to go to India 6 times and Nepal 4 times. While overseas we saw a great harvest for the Lord. I have no reason to believe that 2009 will be any different. The harvest is right and the time is now.  In 2009 we plan to go to Bhutan and to South Korea along with the continued work in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.   If the Lord tarries there is no telling how many people will hear the gospel that has never heard it before.

I would pray that this would be a great year for you, your family, and your Church.  I believe this may be the year the Lord comes to take us home. Everything is pointing to the coming of the Lord and His bride must have made herself ready. I would ask you to keep us in prayer for our financial support. For the first time in 5 years we are under $1200 a month support.  We have no time to travel and raise the money we need. Every week we must believe the money is going to come in to do the work God has called us to do.  I would ask you to prayerfully consider standing behind us so that we may continue to do the work of the ministry. May God bless you abundantly.

In Christ,

Josh Hamby

In India

Published by josh under Josh, Uncategorized

Praise the Lord,

I have just returned from graduating 52 students in the SOC. We where in one of the only pentecostal churches in the area and the presence of God was so great.  The students had many great testimonies of being changed by the power of God.  This School was in a slum area where the sewage was pumped out. Right outside the door was a pond of sewage, you can’t imagine the smell, but to see the faces of those beautiful saints of God singing and worshipping God in the beauty of Holiness was amazing. You would of thought they where in a beautiful Cathedral in America, not a slum in India, But like John Bunyan wrote 400 years ago, “where Christ is there is therefore a Kingdom now for me.” Conditions do not separate us from God and this Church in the midst of sewage worshipped a God that heard them.
I ask you to pray for us as we travel tomorrow to Nagaland and them to Ambola to run the SOC with over 100 ministers. We need a move of God here in India. Everywhere we go we must make Christ real or it is a wasted trip. May God bless you richly.
In Christ,
Josh
